Master of Arts

MA programs are for certified teachers seeking to further their education. Each program can also be provided as a certification-only Rank I program.

Master of Arts in Teaching

Imagine enhancing your impact as a teacher and having the tools you need to boost your career at your own pace. At Asbury, your pathway as an educator is designed for you to thrive. Our comprehensive Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) program opens doors for you to advance and become a high-quality asset to your school system.

You can complete our MAT program through a traditional or Option 6 route depending on your preferences and schedule. The Option 6 route provides a streamlined and expedited pathway to initial, immediate teaching certification upon admission into a program. Engage in intensive coursework and classroom management techniques through an accelerated approach to gain your MAT degree. With certification pathways like Option 6 at Asbury, you can learn and work at the same time.

The MAT program is offered through our synchronous online platform, allowing you to build real-time relationships with faculty and peers. Most classes are offered in 8-week evening sessions allowing for quick course completions.

The MAT approach not only prepares you to excel in your role, but also instills confidence in school administrators and parents in regard to your expertise, contributing to the overall quality of education you can provide.

Education Specialist Degree

Certified teachers who hold a master’s degree and have accrued at least 3 years of professional teaching experience are eligible for educational Leadership programs.

Principal Licensure/Instructional Supervisor

An Education Specialist degree (Ed.S.) is granted upon completion of levels I and II Principal Licensure, and Instructional Supervisor, Level I Director of Pupil Personnel, and a final research project.

Certification Only

At Asbury, you can find a program to continue your education on schedule. Our programs are created for working professionals and can be completed online.

Certified teachers who hold a master’s degree and have accrued at least 3 years of professional teaching experience are eligible for these certifications. For more information about these certifications, contact the School of Education.

Certified administrators who hold a master’s degree and have completed level I and II certification for school principal or supervisor of instruction are eligible for this certification.
