Asbury Announces AsburyGives 2023 Giving Day

April 19, 2023

AsburyGives 2023 is a virtual event from April 20-21 designed to help others invest in the education of current and future Asburians to ensure they are rooted in a Christian worldview with the highest academic caliber. Customized giving options include: 2023 Scholarships, Academic Programs, Athletics, Choral Room Renovation, Honors Program, the Outdoor Venue, the Reunion Gift 2023, the Set Apart Retreat, and Other. Visit givingday.asbury.edu to learn more.

“You are invited to participate and partner with us as we come beside and support our students and fulfill our mission,” President Kevin Brown said. “Your support of Asbury University is more than a contribution. It is an investment into students to be salt and light to serve their communities and glorify God.”

Asbury prepares students for a variety of professions in the marketplace. Alumni such as Dr. Shawn Okpebholo ’03 (Grammy-nominated professor of composition and music theory at Wheaton College-Conservatory of Music) and Amanda Paschal ’12 (Managing Producer for ESPN’s Creative Content Unit) share their gratitude for their liberal arts education at Asbury, which helped both to reach their dreams.

“Asbury’s music faculty are world-class, and the department is small, which means that I received personalized instruction which was a huge blessing and advantage,” Okpebholo said. “In addition to James Curnow and Dr. Ronald Holz, very few professors have impacted me as much as Dr. Vicki Bell. She was influential in cultivating my love for teaching composition and theory. All of these professors encouraged me, prayed for me, and served as spiritual mentors and role models for me.”

“Asbury helped me to succeed through the accessible professors, hands-on courses, and community,” Paschal said. “D.T. Slouffman helped me to get my internship, and I owe much to Dr. Doug Walker (now retired), Greg Bandy, and Don Mink.”

Opportunities to give to the Choral Room Renovation and Academic Programs are options for those who want to help take students to the next level in their education, career, and calling.

Vice President for Institutional Advancement & Strategic Partnerships Dr. Mark Troyer shares encouragement about the legacy of future Asbury students.

“Giving to Asbury University allows students to be trained as leaders to impact the world for Christ,” Troyer said. “Something that is needed now more than ever.”

Giving to the Set Apart Retreat and Honors Program will help students develop spiritually, morally, socially, and ethically. The Set Apart retreat allows students to engage in an intensive, off-campus experience with faculty, staff and peers to address important foundational faith questions and topics in an enjoyable and reflective environment. The Honors Program invites students to join a community of scholars engaged in a themed enrichment experience which gives focus to the concept of human value and dignity and the virtuous life.
