Coding and computing is quickly becoming an essential 21st century workplace skill across disciplines. Computer Science encourages problem-solving, analytical skills, and logical thinking while helping people develop teamwork and interpersonal skills, all of which are hallmarks of the Math Department mission at Asbury.
The Computer Science major is designed to prepare students for careers in web design, database administration, information security, information technology and more. Students in this major can choose from concentrations in Engineering Mathematics, a holistic study of all aspects of computers designed to prepare students to enter a master’s program in Computer Engineering or Computer Science Engineering; or Computational Mathematics, which blends computer science and applied mathematics to prepare graduates for careers like software development and logistics, civilian work with the military, graduate school in mathematics, or computer science related fields.
Also offered is a Computer Science minor, an attainable pathway for students who may have a different specialization but want additional coding or programming skills to supplement their degrees.
