SOC 393 Seminar Non-Violence in the Civil Rights Movement: Throughout the Spring 2025 semester, our course will study the background of non-violent methods of protest during the Civil Rights Movement in the United States. Then, over Spring break, we will visit major sites throughout several states in the south including Memphis, Tennessee; Selma, Birmingham, and Montgomery, Alabama; and Atlanta, Georgia. Our program will also connect with local churches to get modern perspectives on the movement.

Application Process
Trip Dates: March 15-22, 2025 (Spring Break)
To apply for the Civil Rights Tour of the South Travel Course, please follow the following application process:
- Fill out the Apply to an Off-Campus Program Form. Upon completion, you will be contacted by the Study Abroad Office.
- Fill out the Reference Form and select two persons to serve as references on your behalf. One should be an academic reference and the other should be someone who can speak to your character. An online reference form will be sent to each person. Please have them complete and submit the forms.
- The Online Application Form and the Reference Forms are due by November 1, 2024.
- Dr. Henry Zonio will contact students selected to participate by November 15, 2024.
- The first deposit ($500) is due December 1, 2024 to secure your spot on this travel course.
