Asbury University is looking for a qualified candidate to fill their open full-time Purchasing and Warehouse Manager position.

Position Description:  Maintain inventory for general operations of the university in service to students, staff, and visitors. An important part of the position is supporting the ministry and mission of the University and advancing the academic excellence and spiritual vitality of our University and students. Each employee plays an important role in the development of the Christian faith in our students.

Essential Functions:

Duties:

  • Prepares requests for proposals
  • Purchases and maintaining inventory for the general operations of Asbury
  • Issues material to workers
  • Prepares all purchase orders and records all purchases, invoices, P.O.’s and total costs of products in ledger; preparing date received and cost
  • Checks and approves all invoices for payment including material received and checked on invoices
  • Records all invoices on Physical Plant Inventory Sheet submitted for data entry
  • Types letters and prepares purchase orders.
  • Returns defective items and incorrect orders for replacement/credit
  • Maintaining accurate shelving for audit and inventory
  • Daily issues sheets recorded and charged to work order or in the computer
  • Control and prepare purchase sheets for employees’ personal purchase items
  • Keep stockroom area neat and clean
  • Record gas readings on pumps both morning and night. 
  • Takes daily reading and monthly total for auditing
  • Records gas used on vehicles.
  • Compare and balance vehicle listing with daily/monthly total
  • Inventories 550 general items and 250-300 “specialty” items requiring a level knowledge in ordering process.
  • Accept other duties as assigned.

Critical Physical Demands:

  • Frequently move 20-45 pound objects or to assist in moving heavy equipment.
  • Occasionally required to lift 50-100 lbs.
  • Position is considered essential and must report to work, if possible, when the institution is closed due to extreme weather conditions.
  • Must operate forklift and pallet jacks

Skill requirements:

  • Must be able to read and write
  • Basic math skills necessary
  • Must be able to type
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time on-site position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Potential exists to work some evenings and weekends.

Travel:

No travel is expected for this position.

Experience and Training:

5 years related experience required.  (Post secondary education may substitute as experience).

Education:

High School diploma or equivalent required.
