Meet Katherine Fitch ’20, a Master of Communications graduate student who has earned a role at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)’s health literacy unit from her thesis work at Asbury.
As a result of her research into the actionability of health literacy guidelines on the CDC website, she was promoted to a job with Eagle Global Scientific to specifically work with the CDC in terms of health literacy guidelines.
I began my career in public health at the Virginia Department of Health, focusing on the Richmond City and Henrico County Health Districts,” said Fitch. “I was the Public Relations and Marketing Specialist, managing our social media and department campaigns. I have recently transitioned to working on a contract with the CDC’s National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases (NCIRD) in their Flu Division, serving as a health communication specialist, leading the social media team and contributing to the division’s campaigns.
Fitch is currently in her final semester of the fully online Asbury program while working full-time for the CDC.
