- Has served in a variety of editorial positions with Christianity Today, Christian Scholar’s Review, and Light and Life
- Active in the Wesleyan Theological Society since 1994, serving on its Executive Committee in a number of capacities, including president (1994-95)
- Archivist, special collections librarian, affiliate Professor of Church History and Associate Director of the Wesleyan/Holiness Studies Center at Asbury Theological Seminary

- National and international speaker and publisher of many scholarly works, particularly of the Wesleyan/Holiness movement in its historical context
- Published Holiness Manuscripts: A Guide to Unpublished Sources Documenting the Wesleyan/Holiness Tradition in the United States and Canada (1994) and Historical Dictionary of the Holiness Movement (2001)
