Regalia

Full regalia (cap, tassel, and gown) has been ordered for eligible graduates who indicated they would be attending Commencement on their Graduation Application. Only University-issued academic honor cords may be worn during Commencement services.

Students can pick up their regalia and tickets during the Cap & Gown Pickup/Graduation Checklist event April 23-25 in the Farm Boys room in Kinlaw Library. Pick-up dates are divided by school/college, based on primary major as viewable on your Portal Degree Progress Audit. See below for schedule details (please note that pick-up will begin after chapel on Wednesday and Friday if chapel goes later than 10:45 a.m.):

Graduates from these schools/colleges:

  • College of Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences
  • Dayton School of Business
  • School of Christian Studies

Your regalia pick-up time is: Wednesday, April 23, 10:45 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Graduates from these schools/colleges:

Your regalia pick-up time is: Thursday, April 24, 10:45 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Graduates from any school can pick up regalia on Friday, April 25, 10:45 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Tickets

Each graduate will be permitted to have four guests for in-person attendance. Tickets are required for entry and tickets will be unique to each service. Graduates will receive tickets with their cap/gown.

Graduate Studies & Online Undergraduate (APS) Information


Regalia: Participating graduates will order their full regalia (cap/tassel, gown, plus hood for Master’s students) through our vendor’s website and bring their regalia to Commencement. Please reference your Asbury email or contact registrar.info@asbury.edu for ordering information.  The final deadline to order is March 31, 2025.

Only University-issued academic honor cords may be worn during Commencement services. Academic honor cords will be distributed to eligible graduates on Commencement day.

Tickets: Each graduate will be permitted to have four guests for in-person attendance. Tickets are required for entry and tickets will be unique to each service. Graduates will receive their tickets by mail in April 2025. Please contact the Registrar’s Office  if your address has changed recently.

Commencement Speaker(s)

Bill and Diane Ury

Bill and Diane Ury

Bill and Diane Ury have been married since 1984, and have enjoyed a life of ministry together.

Bill is a 1978 graduate of Asbury University. He studied at the Institute for Holy Land Studies in Jerusalem and has an MDiv from Asbury Theological Seminary. He holds an MPhil and PhD in Systematic and Historical Theology from Drew University. Bill taught Historical and Systematic Theology at Wesley Biblical Seminary for 23 years. His podcast is The Hour of Holiness. Bill has authored several articles and books, including Trinitarian Personhood: Investigating the Implications of a Relational Definition, The Bearer, and Christology as Theology.

Diane is a 1983 graduate of Asbury University with a BA in Sociology, and holds an MA in Theology from Wesley Biblical Seminary. She has written several articles, and is the editor of Holy Love: Essays in Honor of Dr. M. William Ury. Together, Diane and Bill authored Conversations About Holiness. Diane loves theology, is a teacher, preacher, mentor, and a women’s lives advocate.

Both Bill and Diane are ordained elders in the Evangelical Methodist Church, have pastored together, and have spent decades discipling men and women. They are fully committed to the historic bases and contemporary expressions of consensual orthodox Christianity and the Wesleyan Holiness tradition. Their personal desire is to incorporate sound, rigorous Christian theological thinking with pastoral care, spiritual formation, and true compassion.

After over two decades of serving The Salvation Army, in 2017 they joined National Headquarters and accepted the role of National Ambassadors for Holiness. They reside in North Carolina and are soldiers with the Raleigh International Corps. The Ury’s four grown children, JoAnna, Maddi, Meredith, and Seth, are Asbury University alumni -. Their ten grandchildren are their constant joy.
