Two Asbury students recently competed in the National Collegiate Sales Competition (NCSC) at Kennesaw State University in Kennesaw, Ga., from March 7-10, earning recognition for their outstanding performances. Caleb Cleveland ’26 and Mackenzie Harvey ’26, both members of the Asbury Sales Team, competed under the leadership of Dr. George Allen, associate professor of marketing and program director for the Asbury University Center for Professional Selling.
Cleveland and Harvey’s combined performances secured Asbury 9th place out of 69 competing universities, adding yet another plaque to the Sales Team’s collection.
This marked Cleveland’s second appearance at NCSC, where he delivered an impressive performance. In the first round, he finished first, automatically advancing to the quarterfinals. He placed second in the quarterfinals, advancing to the semifinals (top 16 competitors). He finished third in the semifinals, placing in the top 12 out of 138 competitors. “Caleb performed outstandingly,” Dr. Allen said. “He excelled at uncovering customer needs and explaining the benefits of the product to his clients.”
Harvey competed in her first collegiate sales competition at NCSC. In the first round, she placed second, advancing directly to the quarterfinals. She finished fifth in the quarterfinals, securing a spot in the top 40 out of 138 competitors.
“I’m very proud of these two outstanding competitors,” Dr. Allen said. “They demonstrated not only their sales skills but also served as great ambassadors for Asbury. More importantly, they honored the Lord with their performance, conduct, and collegiality while interacting with other students and faculty. I’m grateful to the Lord for blessing us with great students, helping them excel, and providing us the opportunity to participate in these competitions.”
The Asbury Sales Team has been a cornerstone of the Asbury Dayton School of Business since 2018, graduating several members each year. Dr. Allen has skillfully guided the program, watching it flourish into its current success. The university now hosts its own sales competition each fall in the Center for Professional Selling, a new addition upon the completion of the Shaw Collaborative Learning Center (CLC) in 2022. The center features rooms designed specifically for sales meetings, equipped with cameras and microphones to suit judging needs. In addition to this competition, Sales Team members travel to compete in several offsite events throughout the year.
