Asbury University Celebrates the Christmas Season

It’s Christmastime at Asbury University! Before classes end for the semester, Asbury is hosting a plethora of events that will both inspire reflection on the meaning of the season and spread some jolly Christmas cheer. Stop by one of these Asbury events to get in the Christmas spirit!
Christmas Music Chapel
- Time: Wednesday, Dec. 4 at 10 a.m.
- Location: Hughes Auditorium
- This year’s beloved Christmas Chapel will feature several of Asbury’s musical ensembles. Expect to hear classic Christmas hymns and contemporary favorites.
Johnson Hall Christmas Party
- Time: Wednesday, Dec. 4 at 8 p.m.
- Location: Johnson Hall
- Johnson Hall welcomes the student body to its annual Christmas soiree for a night of seasonal fun and creative Christmas decor. The celebration includes a reading of the Christmas story, music and snacks.
Christmas Music in the Stuce
- Time: Thursday, Dec. 5 at 11 a.m.
- Location: Asbury University Student Center
- Students can take a little break from cramming for finals with tunes from the Jazz Ensemble and Handbell Choir. This is one of several Music Department Christmas events that soundtrack the season at Asbury.
Songs of the Season
- Time: Thursday, Dec. 5 from 7:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m.
- Location: Jameson Recital Hall
- Enjoy the show of the season at Jameson Recital Hall. Yuletide classics will make the season feel cheery and bright at this spectacular concert.
Christmas Devotions with President Brown
- Time: Friday, Dec. 6 at 10 a.m.
- Location: Hughes Auditorium
- Fall semester Chapels draw to a close with a contemplative reflection on the meaning of Christmas by Asbury President Kevin J. Brown.
International Christmas Market
- Time: Friday, Dec. 6 from 4 p.m.- 6 p.m.
- Location: Asbury Student Center
- Enjoy international music and refreshments while shopping fair trade crafts and gifts at the International Christmas Market, put on by Asbury University’s Office of Intercultural Affairs.
Friday Night Live!
- Time: Friday, Dec. 6 from 6 p.m.-8 p.m.
- Location: Greathouse Theatre
- Each semester, Asbury students write, produce and act in a hilarious sketch comedy show written for and by Asbury students.
Sacred Harmony Christmas Concert
- Time: Friday, Dec. 6 at 7:30 p.m. Doors open at 7 p.m.
- Location: Hughes Auditorium
- As a gift to the community, Asbury presents Tennessee-based gospel trio Sacred Harmony in concert. Admission is free and tickets are not required. Contact advancement@asbury.edu for additional information.
Deck the Stalls Equine Center Christmas Open House
- Time: Saturday, Dec. 7 from 1 p.m.-4 p.m.
- Location: Asbury University Equine Center
- Pose for a photo with Santa Claus, decorate Christmas cookies and so much more at the Equine Center’s Christmas-themed open house. Shuttles from the Providence School will be available from 12:45 p.m.-4:30 p.m. Contact Marilyn.Walker@asbury.edu with any questions.
Wilmore’s Old Fashioned Musical Christmas

- There’s nothing quite like Wilmore at Christmastime! The whole family can enjoy the Main Street stroll, cookies with Mrs. Claus, a tree lighting, model train display and more.
