Asbury’s Learning Environment Sets the Stage for Student Success

January 8, 2020

Asbury University’s state-of-the-art facilities foster a learning environment of academic excellence and spiritual vitality. This unique atmosphere sets the scene for students to become distinctly equipped to find academic and professional success.

Asbury’s main campus spans 65 acres and is made up of more than 30 buildings. A blend of historic Greek revival and modern architecture creates a stunning landscape, while the cozy campus setup makes room for community-building, mentorship and spiritual growth.

Academic excellence and spiritual vitality are supported with top-of-the-line facilities.

Asbury boasts a nationally recognized Equine program and, upon visiting the Equine Center, it’s easy to see why. This facility takes experiential learning to the next level and features pasture fields, trailers, three round pens, three horse barns, an indoor riding arena and two outdoor riding areas. Additionally, students can stall their own horses during the year in the boarder barn. The Equine Center’s custom, expansive facilities serve as the backdrop for students as they train horses for service in police units and other service organizations.

Since 2010, the Andrew S. Miller Center for Communication Arts has housed Communication, Journalism, Media Communication and Theatre & Cinema Performance majors. This stunning, state-of-the-art building features a television studio, recording studios, a news bureau and radio station, editing suites, labs, training areas, a TV production trailer and a black box theatre. With a winning combination of advanced facilities and esteemed faculty, students are trained up to be successful media professionals.

Hughes Auditorium is a historic center for spiritual learning. Here, students gather three times a week for Chapel, where they worship together and hear from a mix of diverse speakers from around the world. Chapels provide students with the time and space to discover and nurture their faith. Throughout the year, special services, such as Holiness Emphasis Week and Fall Revival, are held to encourage students to encounter God in new and fresh ways.

Kinlaw Library offers a selection of study environments to suit each individual learning style. Group and individual study rooms provide space for group and solo work. A quiet area can be found on the third floor of the library, complete with tables and couches. The spacious study center contains a total of 18 study carrels, 40 study tables and 30 individual comfortable chairs located throughout the building.

Student athletes practice academic excellence in the classroom and athletic excellence on the field with cutting-edge facilities.

Asbury’s athletic disciplines are housed in the recently renovated Luce Center. Asbury fields eight men’s and nine women’s varsity sports (plus cheerleading) which compete in NAIA and all offer scholarships. Also housed at the Luce are Asbury’s baseball and softball facilities; Kirkland Complex received recent renovations including new seating, fencing and more.

Through Ignited: The Campaign for Asbury University, Asbury’s campus has seen many upgrades and installations. In the last few years, the University has celebrated the completion of Windsor Manor, the Bowdoin Athletic Practice Facility and Jameson Recital Hall. The University also recently celebrated the openings of the Joe Pitts Center for Public Policy and the Dennis F. Kinlaw Study Center. In June 2019, Asbury broke ground for the Collaborative Learning Center (CLC), a cutting-edge facility that will house programs in Business, Math, Science and Allied Health in addition to offering upgraded labs and spaces of collaboration across the disciplines.

Asbury’s learning environment goes above and beyond with an unparalleled combination of amazing facilities, a beautiful faith community and rigorous academics.
