A 45-minute drop-in reception with light refreshments will be held in the library to recognize, display, and appreciate recently published and in-print books by faculty. The event is a joint effort between the Office of the Provost and Kinlaw Library. In-print books (books, textbooks (only 1st edition), monographs) released within the last academic year by established publishing houses (no self-publishing).
Peer-reviewed published books remain the widely accepted standard-bearer of scholarship in university. They represent the long and arduous work of putting thinking – the hallmark of intellectual being – into words as a record of the extensive and often sizable thought on a wide variety of subject matter(s). Peer-reviewed suggests there is appropriate attention by established critics and reviewers. Meaning, other scholars in the discipline have found the work sufficiently high in quality for it to merit publication or presentation for the quality of and adherence to editorial, curatorial, or performance standards.
Eligible: Faculty with recently published peer-reviewed books
Request due: Ongoing
