Asbury University Awarded CCCU Biblically Informed Immigration Grant

April 5, 2022

Clements and Inazu

Asbury University was awarded nearly $4,500 by the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU) to provide immigration topic-centered experiences to Asbury community members.

Co-authors of the grant Dr. Steve Clements and Rev. Dr. Esther D. Jadhav worked to coordinate the efforts of the program that was made possible due to the CCCU grant.

CCCU offers the Biblically Informed Immigration Grant to universities such as Asbury to spark thoughtful conversations about immigration in a biblical view throughout campus.

“Christians disproportionally inform their views on immigration from external media influences and political affiliation more so than the truth of God’s word,” said a CCCU statement. “Immigration and immigration reform are extraordinarily complex topics, yet we have a God who is not scared of complexity. It is hard work but good work to engage in conversations around immigration.”

With this grant Jadhav, along with Asbury community members, will host open conversation about immigration.

Jadhav said the Biblically Informed Immigration Grant is an incredible honor because it “demonstrates our institutions desire to cultivate a culturally responsible Christian community that practices hospitality, mutuality, redemptive social action, and grace-filled reconciliation.”
