I hold a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Asbury University, and a doctorate in education from the University of Kentucky. Before serving as a full-time faculty member at Asbury University, I taught eight years in the elementary classrooms in Nicholasville and Lexington, Kentucky. I currently live in Wilmore with my husband Ryan, our children Willow and Asher, and our Golden Retriever, Runner. Together, my husband and I own Reel Special Productions, a cinematography company specializing in weddings and promotional videos for nonprofits, missions, organizations, and small businesses.
I currently teach elementary education courses that focus on literacy. My research involves looking at teacher decision-making within guided reading—an instructional approach in reading. I am a member of the Literacy Research Association and chair the Student Community and Safety Committee on campus. It is a joy and passion teaching future teachers!
