Dr. Sutlive holds a Ph.D. in Human Performance from Indiana University (1996), and is presently the Chair of the Department of Natural Science and Allied Health. Prior to coming to Asbury University, he served as Chair of Health & Exercise Science at Pfeiffer University, where he has worked from 2001-2016. He served on Pfeiffer’s Nursing Program Advisory Board, and on the Applied Health Sciences Steering Committee that oversaw the development of a Physician’s Assistant program at Pfeiffer. He also served as Director of the Clergy Health Institute, an interdisciplinary program to promote health and wellness among United Methodist clergy in North Carolina and surrounding states. Before joining the Pfeiffer faculty in 2001, Sutlive had held positions at Colorado State University (1995-2001), Indiana University (1992-1995), Asbury College (1984-1987), and the College of William & Mary (1980-1984). Dr. Sutlive is married to Ann Demaree Sutlive. They have two sons. Joseph is a doctoral student in bio-engineering at Virginia Tech, and Joshua is a student at Asbury University.
