Family Weekend 2024 Schedule

The schedule below provides suggestions of things you can do with your student, but feel free to spend time together however you want—shopping, eating at a favorite restaurant, or exploring the many opportunities Lexington and the surrounding area have to offer!

Due to seating limitations, students will remain in their assigned seats while family members sit in Balcony sections A & G (closest to the stage).

6 p.m. – Demonstration of liberty work training method
6:15 – 8:15 p.m. – Two teams of Asbury student trainers will engage horses rescued from the mountains of eastern Kentucky in the initial steps of horse training in preparation to be ridden.

7:30 p.m.For the College Journey: A Cabaret

9 a.m.Parents’ Breakfast
Johnson Dining Hall

Join other parents for a breakfast buffet and conversation with campus leaders. Tickets are $12/person and must be purchased by Sept. 20. (Ticket sales have closed.) Program will conclude by 10:30 a.m.

11 a.m.Family Weekend Ensemble Concert & Reception
Jameson Recital Hall
Featuring Men’s Glee Club, Women’s Choir, Handbell Choir, and Chorale. Reception immediately following in the Band Room, featuring Jazz Ensemble
Noon – 2 p.m.Pizzas from Around the World
OMS Student Center
Enjoy stone oven pizzas with an international flair or make your own!
Noon – 2 p.m.Equine Student Trainer Faceoff (Round 2)
Bayless Arena (744 Shanty Hill Road)
Asbury students continue training their horses to be ridden through an obstacle course and walk, trot, canter pattern. Following the event, hayrides to Rainwater Arena will be available for the 2:15 demonstrations.

Equine students demonstrate vaulting, drill team, and reining freestyle.

WGM Student Center
A fun cultural experience including FREE goat meat, live music and yard games. (Some additional items/activities available for a donation.)
6 – 8 p.m.Equine Student Trainer Faceoff (Final Competition Round)
Bayless Arena (744 Shanty Hill Road)
Each team will demonstrate and be judged on their horse's ability to walk, trot, canter, and be ridden through an obstacle course.
