About Our Department

We prepare students to engage in society with Christlike compassion as they pursue a variety of creative and communication vocations.

The Asbury Communication & Theatre department is a special place that will challenge you to grow in your skills and encourage you grow deeper in your Christian faith. In today’s world, we are surrounded by messaging, all inviting us to different modes of interpreting the news, what leaders say, and even how we should interact with our neighbors. We want you to make an impact in this important industry!

We desire to equip students studying in our programs with a Christ-centered worldview that informs their calling. You will participate in projects where you wrestle with ideas and explore what it means to be a Christian in the workplace.

Plenty of hands-on opportunities exist for students studying in this department, including:

  • Our on-campus, student-run public relations agency
  • A Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) chapter
  • Annual Highbridge Film Festival
  • Numerous theatre productions and workshops
  • Hands-on set design and construction

Where you’ll Learn

Explore our Communications & Theatre Arts facility in the Miller Creative Arts Building with spaces for stage and film. The scene shop, recording studio and an amazing collection of film equipment allow for relevant training and collaboration for students to prepare for future careers.
