Camp Dates

Monday – Friday, June 9-13, 2025

What You Can Expect

Conduct DNA fingerprinting on your own DNA
Collect and identify many aquatic invertebrates; take home your own collection
Examine genetically modified fish using molecular techniques to observe the foreign gene
Identify and collect many reptiles and amphibians while studying basic herpetology
Use environmental DNA detection and identification of captured organisms based on differences in their genomic DNA sequences

Your Instructors

Ben Brammell, Ph.D., an assistant professor at Asbury University has had a passion for biology since he was a young child, when he would wait each day for the drudgery of school to end so that he could escape into the wild to study the flora and fauna of streams, fields and ponds. With a Ph.D. in Biology, Brammell has been teaching at Asbury University since 2010.
