Rachel Rinehart received an MFA in Creative Writing (poetry) and an MA in English Literature from McNeese State University, after earning a BA in English from Ohio University. Her poetry collection The Church in the Plains was selected by Peter Everwine as the winner of the 2016 Philip Levine Poetry Prize and was published by Anhinga Press in January 2018. She lives outside of Harrodsburg, Kentucky, with her husband and two daughters.
