Dr. Jong Hyun Kim earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Korea University, followed by a Master of Science degree in Physical Chemistry from the same institution. He further pursued his academic journey and obtained a PhD in Physical Chemistry from the University of Colorado Boulder. Throughout his academic career, his primary research interests revolved around atoms, molecules, and optics. Utilizing cutting-edge experimental techniques and theoretical methods, he meticulously studied the step-by-step reactions occurring between atoms and molecules. Driven by his unwavering passion for research, he embarked on academic endeavors in Seoul, Boulder, Hsinchu, and Lexington.

However, at a certain point, he decided to apply his foundational research knowledge to more practical domains. Expanding his academic horizons, he ventured into the realm of new drug development, biochemical research, and animal studies. By employing gold atoms, he successfully developed compounds with remarkable drug efficacy, particularly in combatting cancer, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), and traumatic brain injury (TBI).

Currently, Dr. Kim operates at the intersection of physics, chemistry, biology, and pharmacy. He serves as a physics professor at Asbury while maintaining his unwavering focus on research.
