Environmental Science & Biotechnology Camp

Impact U Science BioTech Students capturing aquatic life

Join Asbury professors for five days of hands-on learning, using many of the latest techniques employed in ecology, biotechnology, and conservation biology today.

Cost:

The camp is $550 per person, and includes food, lodging, and all expenses.

What You Can Expect:

  • Conduct DNA fingerprinting on your own DNA
  • Collect and identify many aquatic invertebrates; take home your own collection
  • Examine genetically modified fish using molecular techniques to observe the foreign gene
  • Identify and collect many reptiles and amphibians while studying basic herpetology
  • Use environmental DNA detection and identification of captured organisms based on differences in their genomic DNA sequences

About Your Instructors:

Ben Brammell - Asbury University

Ben Brammell, an assistant professor at Asbury University has had a passion for biology since he was a young child, when he would wait each day for the drudgery of school to end so that he could escape into the wild to study the flora and fauna of streams, fields and ponds. With a Ph.D. in Biology, Brammell has been teaching at Asbury University since 2010.
