Asbury University Celebrates the Christmas Season

The Christmas season is in full-swing at Asbury University! Before the semester wraps up, a variety of events are happening on campus that are sure to put you in the spirit of the season. From cookies and cocoa to decking the halls and reflecting on the reason for the season, head to one of these events on and around campus for a healthy dose of Christmas cheer!

Jaci Velasquez Christmas Concert

  • Time: Friday, Nov. 30 at 7 p.m.
  • Location: Hughes Auditorium
  • As a gift to the community, Asbury presents Grammy-nominated singer Jaci Velasquez in concert. Free tickets can be reserved here. Contact advancement@asbury.edu for additional information.

Deck the Stalls Equine Center Christmas Open House

  • Time: Saturday, Dec. 1 from 1 p.m.-4 p.m.
  • Location: Asbury University Equine Center
  • Take a photo with Santa, decorate cookies and so much more at the Equine Center’s annual open house. Shuttles from the Providence School will be available from 12:45 p.m.-4:30 p.m. Contact Marilyn.Walker@asbury.edu with any questions.

Wilmore’s Old Fashioned Musical Christmas

  • Time: Saturday, Dec. 1, all day event. See full schedule.
  • Location: Downtown Wilmore
  • This all-day event marks a cherished community tradition loved by all! Bring the whole family out to enjoy cookies and cocoa with Mrs. Claus, a special tree lighting ceremony, craft fair and more.

Christmas Music Chapel

  • Time: Wednesday, Dec. 5 at 10 a.m.
  • Location: Hughes Auditorium
  • A beloved custom, this year’s Christmas Chapel will feature the Concert Band and Women’s Choir. Expect to hear time-honored Christmas hymns in addition to modern favorites.

Johnson Hall Christmas Party

  • Time: Wednesday, Dec. 5 from 8 p.m. – 10 p.m.
  • Location: Johnson Hall
  • Johnson Hall welcomes the student body at its annual Christmas soiree for a night of fun and a little friendly competition amongst the halls. The night includes a floor decorating competition, a Christmas reading and delicious refreshments such as cookies and cocoa.

Christmas Music in the Stuce

  • Time: Thursday, Dec. 6 at 11 a.m.
  • Location: Asbury University Student Center
  • The Jazz Ensemble and Handbell Choir will provide a fun study break for students through Christmas Music in the Stuce. This is one of several Music Department Christmas events that soundtrack the season at Asbury.

Songs of the Season

  • Time: Thursday, Dec. 6 from 7:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m.
  • Location: Jameson Recital Hall
  • The Chorale, Men’s Glee Club and Chamber Groups will, together, put on the show of the season during this spectacular Finals Week performance. Enjoy yuletide classics that are sure to make the season feel cheery and bright.

C.S. Lewis’ “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe”

  • Time: Dec. 6-8, 7:30 p.m. & Dec. 8, 2 p.m.
  • Location: Greathouse Theatre
  • Go on a journey with Aslan, Edmund, Lucy, Peter and Susan! Asbury University’s Greathouse Theatre presents C.S. Lewis’ “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.” This special Christmastime performance inspires with its redemptive, hope-filled message.  

Christmas Devotions with President Gray

  • Time: Friday, Dec. 7 at 10 a.m.
  • Location: Hughes Auditorium
  • Fall semester Chapels draw to a close with an insightful reflection on the meaning and story of Christmas by Asbury President Sandra C. Gray.

International Christmas Market

  • Time: Friday, Dec. 7 from 4 p.m.- 6 p.m.
  • Location: Asbury Student Center
  • Shop crafts and fair trade gifts while enjoying international music and refreshments as Asbury University’s Office of Intercultural Affairs puts on the International Christmas Market.
