Reunion Gift Project focuses on residence hall community spaces
If you ask an Asbury University alum their favorite part about life at Asbury, there’s a good chance they will mention their residence hall community! With more than 85 percent of the student body living on campus, life together is a key piece of the Asbury experience.
Each year, the banner-year reunion classes come together to fund a project of significant importance. This year’s Reunion Gift Project will raise funds for the renovation and remodeling of common spaces in one men’s and one women’s residence hall.
Asbury’s dormitories mix athletes and non-athletes, all kinds of majors, extracurriculars and class years to give students the opportunity to form meaningful relationships with friends all across campus! Each hall has its own mascot, theme, brother/sister hall, special outings, and weekly Bible study. Each dorm has unique events from Johnson Christmas to Kresge Kandyland! Students are deeply formed by the time they spend with the men and women they live with, whether its studying together, rearranging furniture in the rooms, decorating for events, or simply having transformative conversations late into the night.
The chairs of the Reunion Class Gift Project this year put it perfectly: “We are looking forward to seeing the smiles on the student faces when they see their remodeled community spaces in the residence halls. We all remember our days on campus, gathering with friends. These community spaces are also an important first impression in the recruitment process. Join us in supporting this worthwhile project!” — David ’68 & Fran Corbly ’68 Upperman
