Program Overview
Blending mathematical theory with technical computer science skills, the computer science mathematics major at Asbury University allows you serves to deepen your understanding of the foundations behind some of the most innovative solutions of our day, and take your part in designing the solutions of tomorrow.
You can find your passion in one of two concentration areas within the major: computational mathematics or engineering mathematics. Within these concentrations, you can develop the skills necessary to join massive research projects, model solutions to real-world problems and live out your calling in the technological space!
The rich classes, practical knowledge and career preparation within this major means that Asbury students can become anything from operations research analysts to software engineers! But even apart from the wide-ranging and in-demand career fields, the computer science mathematics major at Asbury University offers students the unique opportunity to hone technical skills in a supportive environment, fueling collaboration and an in-depth exploration of the most pressing industry topics!
This concentration focuses in real-world mathematical modeling programs, including classes in numerical analysis and logic and sets. By taking Physics I and II in this concentration, you will have a deep knowledge base to encounter any problem that you might find in a job or academic setting!
This concentration allows you to focus on web programming and software design engineering to prepare you for encountering the theoretical foundations of computing, and translating your knowledge into accurate and shareable solutions for pressing real-world problems.
Through the annual Math Modeling competition, teams of Asbury students have the opportunity to compete against some of the most prestigious institutions in the world…and win! Our teams historically place within the international competition, meaning that you can utilize the skills you are learning in class within a high-stakes environment that will prepare you for real-world careers in math modeling!
Faculty in our computer science mathematics major are innovators in their field, bringing a wealth of experiential knowledge to the classroom, so that you will have the best education to become leaders in the digital age!
With a degree in computer science mathematics, our alumni find themselves in careers from statistical analysis to economic theorists! With the foundation of this major, the experience in problem-solving and a connected alumni network, you will be prepared for a job in any sector of the industry.
