The customizable curriculum of the Bachelor of Arts in Marketing degree program reflects the needs of today’s marketing environment, which balances creative and effective communication skills, digital tools, data-driven consumer behavior analyses and experiences that build your “marketing intuition.”

Requirements for the bachelor’s degree in marketing include:

  • 39 course credits in business core courses
  • 12 course credits in marketing core courses
  • 3 course in student-selected business and marketing courses
  • 53 credits in Foundations general education courses

Take foundational business courses in accounting, finance and management while studying modern marketing concepts on a deeper level and global scale.

Business-Focused Marketing Courses

Apart from business core courses, four core marketing courses deliver knowledge in critical areas:

  • Consumer Behavior & Decision-Making
  • Fundamentals of Professional Selling
  • Marketing Research
  • International Marketing

Then, take three courses of their choice from the Dayton School of Business’s offerings. Courses may include:

  • Public Relations Theory & Practice
  • Brand Management
  • Social Media Marketing
  • Advanced Professional Selling

Customize Your Experience to Your Goals

After learning foundational principles and strategies, marketing majors customize their curriculum to their interests and career goals. This allows students to tailor their learning to gain skills in aspects of business and marketing such as brand management, professional selling, advertising principles, social media marketing, public relations and more.


Before you graduate, you may participate in opportunities to help contribute to faculty research projects or travel to national collegiate sales competitions with the Asbury University Sales Team.

Under the mentorship of experts in the School of Business faculty and through opportunities to interview with employer sponsors, forge the career connections and diverse experience that will set you apart and strengthen your career opportunities after graduation.

Each marketing major designs and completes a functional campaign in the Strategic Management Capstone, empowering them to pursue project management roles and establish multilayered campaigns in a variety of industries.

Outside of academics, Asbury offers even more opportunities to employ leadership and entrepreneurship in real-world situations, extending your abilities and adding to your résume. The Center for Professional Selling also offers an abundance of opportunity to grow skills needed every day in marketing.

Professors incorporate strong experiential aspects into their lessons including team projects. Marketing majors also have the opportunity to further apply critical marketing functions in real-world settings through an optional marketing internship.

If completing the internship, marketing majors are placed for on-the-job training in a firm, agency or similar organization. This optional internship will be designed to be as close as possible to the student’s specific career interests.
