How to Apply as a Transfer Student

As a transfer student, our rolling admissions process at Asbury University means you can apply at any time, but applying early gives you the best financial aid options.

We are committed to offering the support and resources students need in order to be successful, and we know that begins with scholarships and financial aid. Log into your Asbury Checklist

Your Asbury Checklist is an online system that allows you to see in real time what we need you to do to move forward in the process of coming to Asbury. This online Checklist will be your main source of information and next steps from the time you submit your application until you move on campus.

How to log in: Use the same email address and password that you used for your Asbury application. Common App applicants should set up their Asbury Checklist login credentials using the link in the “Next Steps” email that will arrive within 48 hours after application submission.

Send Additional Materials

We require the following materials before your application can be reviewed.

Transfer students with 30 or more completed credit hours (not dual credit/dual enrollment) from one or more accredited colleges/universities

An official transcript from every college/university you have attended.
Test scores (ACT, SAT or Classic Learning Test) may not be required for admission but may be required for scholarship eligibility.

Transfer students with less than 30 completed credit hours (not dual credit/dual enrollment) from one or more accredited colleges/universities

An official transcript from your high school
Official transcripts from every college/university you have attended
One of the following:
- ACT score (use school code 1486)
- SAT score (use school code 1019)
- Classic Learning Test (CLT) score (select Asbury as a score recipient)
- Test Optional essay and interview

Transfer Credit

Asbury accepts most credits from accredited institutions as long as the credits are applicable to a liberal arts program.

You are considered a transfer student for the application and financial aid process if you have taken college/university classes more recently than the summer after your high school graduation.
A maximum of 75 credits may be transferred toward your bachelor’s degree at Asbury.
Vocational and technical courses may not be transferable.
Credits from AP, CLEP, IB or AICE tests may be transferable.
Your official transfer credit evaluation will come from the Registrar’s office after you have been accepted and have sent in your final official transcripts with all grades included.
To order a transcript from your past/current institution, contact the Office of the Registrar at your institution or visit www.getmytranscript.com. This site will walk you through placing your transcript order, including delivery options and fees.

A note about Transfer Credit

You can get an unofficial transfer credit evaluation for your use as you go through the transfer application process.

Evaluation Option 1: You can create an estimated transfer credit report here. Find your previous school(s) and look up your classes to see their course equivalencies at Asbury. If you can’t find your school listed, use option 2 to receive an evaluation.
Evaluation Option 2: Send a copy of your transcripts to the Admissions office with a request for a transfer evaluation. Once the evaluation is complete, you will receive an emailed preliminary report to use as a guide.

You are considered a freshman for the application and financial aid processes if you have not taken any college/university classes more recently than the summer after your high school graduation.

If you have taken dual credit/dual enrollment classes, you can transfer them to Asbury to count toward your degree by sending transcripts from the sponsoring college/university upon your acceptance to Asbury.

Asbury accepts transfer credit from AP, CLEP, IB and AICE tests. To receive credit, submit test results to the Asbury University Admissions Office after you have been admitted.
