The federal government provides grants for students attending college. Most types of grants, unlike loans, are sources of financial aid that generally do not have to be repaid. Federal and state grants are available to those who complete the FAFSA and qualify on a need basis.
A Federal Pell Grant is an award to help undergraduate students pay for their education after high school. For many students, Pell Grants provide a foundation of financial aid to which aid from other federal and non-federal sources may be added. Eligibility for the Pell Grant is determined by completion of the FAFSA.
The FSEOG is for undergraduate students with exceptional financial need who are also Pell Grant recipients. Although federal guidelines state that grants of up to $4,000 per year may be awarded, most grants range from $500 to $1,000 per year because of limited funds at Asbury University.
The TEACH Grant provides funds to students who are completing or who plan to complete coursework that is required to begin a career in teaching, and who agree to teach full-time for at least four years:
The four years of teaching must be completed within eight years after you complete or otherwise cease to be enrolled in the program for which you received a TEACH Grant. This teaching requirement is known as your TEACH Grant service obligation.
To be considered for this grant, you must complete the FAFSA, be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen, be enrolled in coursework that is necessary to begin a career in teaching or plan to complete such course work, meet certain academic achievement requirements, sign a TEACH Grant Agreement To Serve (ATS), and complete TEACH Grant Entrance Counseling.

*Please note that these funds are limited and are available on a first-come, first-served basis, so be sure to file your FAFSA as soon after October 1 as possible for optimum consideration.
