Scholarship Competition

In order to receive an invitation, students must meet any of the following criteria:

• • Minimum of 4.0 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale (Note: because every high school calculates GPAs differently, we recalculate your GPA to an Asbury 4-point scale to ensure every student gets the best possible aid. The recalculated GPA is used for this determination.)

• • Attendance at Governor’s Scholars

• • National Merit Semi-finalist

If you have been invited to this event, you can use your login information to register.

Students will have the opportunity to receive one of two John Wesley Hughes Scholarships (equal to 100% of tuition) or one of twenty Henry Clay Morrison Scholarships (equal to 60% of tuition). All scholarship competitors who do not receive the Hughes or Morrison scholarships will automatically receive a $1,000 yearly scholarship, totaling $4,000 over four years, for attending the event. The Hughes and Morrison scholarships will replace the merit scholarship previously awarded.

The two competitions are identical in structure. We host two so that you can pick the one that best fits your schedule.

Students are invited to stay on campus and get the real college experience in one of Asbury’s residence halls. Please note that if you choose to stay overnight on campus, you may be sleeping on the floor in the room of a current student. Please be prepared and pack a sleeping bag, a pillow, business professional attire for the interview, and anything else you may need to add comfort to your stay. Parents and other guests are encouraged to stay at a local hotel or bed & breakfast, some of which offer a special rate for Asbury guests.

Students are to submit a resumé and essay to be used as a platform for the presentation portion of their interview. Please review our Requirements page on the requirements for these materials and submit them through this portal.

If you are staying overnight in a residence hall, don’t forget to bring a sleeping bag, pillow, towel and other personal items.

Please note that the dress code on Friday is business professional.

• Vocal audition – Dr. Marie-France Duclos, Vocal Audition Coordinator
