Asbury University provides numerous opportunities for students to work on campus and earn extra money to pay for personal expenses throughout the year. Eligibility for the federal college work-study program is determined by the FAFSA. Check out the FAQs below for more information.
Work-study is a federal program that allows students to earn money while they are in college. Students may work up to twenty hours per week and will receive a paycheck every two weeks. Students may choose to use the money they have earned to pay for direct college expenses (e.g tuition, fees, housing and food) or for personal expenses. They are not required to apply these funds toward their student account at Asbury University.
Asbury University delivers student refunds and payroll with BankMobile Disbursements. The Human Resources office can answer any questions you have about this.
Eligibility for the federal college work-study program is determined by the FAFSA and the Asbury Financial Aid Office.
Many departments across the campus employ student workers. Students interested in participating in the work-study program are encouraged to apply directly to the department(s) in which they are interested in working. Students can also check job postings on the website, outside the Human Resources Office and through your Asbury email.
The advantage of work-study comes when you file taxes for the following school year. The money a student earns through work-study will not be held against the student. Rather than seeing this money as an extra asset, the government will view this money as necessary funds received to cover the costs of college.
Students who do not qualify for federal work-study may still be eligible for a campus job. However, the student will need to report his/her income on the following year’s tax form.
The Church Match program was established to encourage churches to support students with scholarship aid. Asbury University will match scholarships awarded by a church, mission agency, or other Christian service organization up to $1,000 per academic year.
If a church or other religious organization makes a financial contribution to your education, Asbury will match that contribution dollar for dollar up to $1,000 each academic year. Only funds submitted directly to Asbury’s Financial Aid Office for processing are eligible to receive the matching grant.
This offer is open to every full-time, traditional undergraduate student.
In order to be eligible for this grant, the completed Church Match application and funds from your church must be received by the Financial Aid Office August 1 for fall semester and December 1 for Spring semester. Funds received after the deadline and/or direct deposited to the student will be applied to the student’s account, but will not be matched by the University.
