A Lilly Fellows grant awarded to Dr. Ben Brammell, Professor of Biology, and Dr. Daniel Strait, Professor of English, kicked off the Christianity & Science program.

Dr. Brammell is professor of biology at Asbury University and has a Ph.D. in Biology from the University of Kentucky. His current research focuses on utilizing DNA fragments released by aquatic organisms to establish their presence and abundance in aquatic systems and includes examining temporal fluctuations in eDNA of multiple salamander species and correlations with life history in central KY streams, conducting caging studies to examine eDNA detection limits, and examining the impact of various environmental parameters on eDNA release and persistence.
Dr. Strait is professor of English and Associate Dean of the College of Arts & Sciences at Asbury University and earned his Ph.D. in English Literature and Criticism from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. His research interests include exploring the intersections of literature, philosophy, and religion, especially in Shakespearean drama and Renaissance poetry (especially George Herbert). His doctoral research focused on the limits of religious language in George Herbert and Emily Dickinson.
