M.A. Communications Admissions Requirements

The application process begins with submitting an application. Once you start an application you will have access to the Asbury Portal which will help you keep track of the documents needed to have a complete application and start your M.A. journey! Application materials needed:

  1. Official Transcripts: Submit official transcript conferring bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited university and any graduate transcripts directly from the credit-granting institution to gradadmissions@asbury.edu or by postal mail to: Asbury University, Attn: Admissions, One Macklem Drive, Wilmore, KY 40390.
    • A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher is required for M.A. programs.
  2. Resume/CV: Submit your resume in your Application Portal
  3. References: Provide 2 references (character, and professional) as part of the application process. A reference form will be emailed to each reference listed in your application. Please ask for your references to watch for an email from Asbury. References must be from non-family members.
  4. Transcripts from institutions outside of the U.S. must be sent to Asbury from WES.org after a course-by-course evaluation has been conducted. Please visit WES.org for instructions, as they vary by country (international students only).
  5. English Language Proficiency. All applicants whose native language is not English (with the exception of those who hold a degree from an accredited U.S. institution of higher education) must submit proof of proficiency in one of the following ways (international students only):
    • TOEFL score above 550 (paper based) or 213 (computer-based test) and a score of 4.5 on the Test of Written English (TWE)
    • IBT exam score of 80
    • Duolingo English Test score of 105

Costs and Financial Aid

Asbury’s graduate degrees are accredited, affordable programs that truly invest in your future success. They can be done fully online, there are no application fees, tuition rates are competitive and financial aid is available for eligible students.

Additionally, a select number of competitive graduate assistantships are available. Assistants must have graduated from a four-year, regionally-accredited institution, have a minimum of two academic semesters left to complete his/her master’s degree from the time the assistantship is awarded, have a minimum of 3.0 GPA, and submit a current resume.
