Summer is in Full Swing at Asbury

Asbury University traditional undergraduate students may be enjoying their summer vacations at home, but campus has been alive and well with a variety of camps, conferences and events visiting. View a full list of summer camps and conferences hosted by Asbury!

Education happens year-round at Asbury. Earlier this summer, hundreds of high school students traveled from across the country to participate in Asbury’s ImpactU academic camps, wherein they engaged with subjects such as Creative Writing, Adventure Leadership, Film, Theatre & Film Acting, Environmental Science & Biotechnology, Forensic Science and Equine.

Asbury athletic teams are holding a number of sports camps this summer for elementary, middle and high school students. So far, the University has hosted soccer, softball, volleyball and basketball camps and is set to host several other sports intensives in the next few weeks.

At the end of June, Asbury hosted its annual Reunion, which brought nearly 1,500 alumni and family members to campus for a weekend of reminiscing and reflecting on the faithfulness of God.

In addition to Asbury alumni and future Asburians enjoying campus life this summer, a variety of visiting groups, camps and conferences have been able to take advantage of all that Asbury’s beautiful Wilmore campus has to offer over the summer months.

LEGO Robotics Camp allowed students to experiment with STEM activities, including learning to build and program robots. While, June and July brought FUGE Camps to campus as over 700 teens experienced life-changing encounters with Christ in a fun, summer camp atmosphere.  

For the first time, Asbury hosted Camp KidJam, a camp designed to help kids grow in wisdom, faith and friendship; over 400 kids and staffers attended the camp this year.

High school students will gather for five days of worship at Kingdom Breakout this week, and Student Life Camp, a Christian summer camp, will visit campus later this month.  

Later this summer, Asbury will also host a variety of groups including Phi Gamma Delta and Lexington UMC Youth Groups.

According to Christine Endicott, Asbury’s new director of Conference Services, Events and Hospitality, the University has received glowing reviews from visitors who attended camps and conferences on campus this summer.

“Having worked here less than a month, I have been in awe of how everyone will bend over backwards to help the guests on campus, no matter who they are or what their role is,” Endicott said. “It is clear that serving others is a top priority to the people who work here, and I have seen that from the top down. No one has been immune to the issues that have come up, and no one has been rude, short-tempered or unaccommodating. I am so grateful and blessed to be here.”
